2024-2025 Request For Proposals (RFP) Classification and Salary Compensation Study
REQUEST FOR CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY COMPENSATION STUDY
San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District is seeking qualified firms to submit proposals to conduct a District-wide Classification and Salary Compensation Study for positions on the Classified Schedule.
PROPOSAL DUE DATE: November 22, 2024 by 3:00p.m.
CONTACT:
Andrew Lucia, Assistant Superintendent-Human Resources, 831-336-5193, [email protected]
BACKGROUND:
The San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District (District) oversees two elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and one dependent Charter School and serves over 2,229 students within a TK-12 school setting with approximately 125 classified employees.
All compensation and benefits for union employees are negotiated, subject to ratification by union membership and approval by the District. The last comprehensive Classification and Salary Compensation Study was conducted approximately 14 years ago. Class specifications need to be made current with regard to Ed Code, CA State Law, ADA requirements, working environments, essential functions, and corresponding skills and abilities.
OBJECTIVES:
Overall, the objective of the District is to align job descriptions with current responsibilities and conduct a compensation market analysis of similar or like jobs in comparable schools districts located in Santa Cruz County. The overall goal of the District is to update our current job descriptions; complete with comparable school districts located in Santa Cruz County; offer comparable payment for services, recruit, train, and support a motivated, capable and diverse workforce.
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS Q&A:
1 - Can you confirm you are only seeking a base compensation study (which does not include benefits)?
ANSWER:
We are seeking a Classification Study, as well as a Salary Compensation Study, which does not include benefits.
2 - The RFP states that the Superintendent will submit the contract for Board approval on December 18, 2024. This likely means that the study will not commence until 2025. It would be virtually impossible to complete a comprehensive Classification and Compensation Study of this scope by March 31, 2025. Does the District have any flexibility around a more realistic timeline?
ANSWER:
We are interested in having the study completed by March 31, 2025.
3 - Please provide an Allocation Report showing the number of employees per classification to be studied.
ANSWER:
Please see the Allocation Report HERE. (Pending Allocation Report)
4 - Is the District comfortable having the study conducted 100% virtual with no on-site visits?
ANSWER:
The District is open to the study being conducted virtually, as well as being conducted on-site and hybrid (on-site and virtually).
5 - Does the District have an established list of comparators it wishes to use or would you want the consultant to provide?
ANSWER:
The comparators will be other districts in Santa Cruz County. The list of comparators will be determined in collaboration with the District, union, and the agency who is awarded the contract.
