Volunteer Information

 
The San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District thanks you for volunteering your services to the students of the Valley. Your participation enhances the instructional program and motivates and encourages students. Definition of a Volunteer

A volunteer is a parent or family member, community member or other adult, who assists at a school site or program on a regular or semi-regular basis before, during, or after school hours in an unpaid status.

 

ALL Volunteers Requirements:

  1. Completed and Approved Volunteer Agreement
  2. TB test / screening
  3. Fingerprinting

A TB Risk Assessment can be done by your doctor. It is a few questions, that will determine whether an actual TB test would be required.

 

Steps to Becoming a Volunteer

Start at the school site for which you are requesting to volunteer at. Then, complete the following steps in order:

  1. Complete the Volunteer Agreement form, linked below.
  2. Take the completed agreement to your child's school office personnel for approval and signature.
  3. Read the Volunteer Handbook, linked below.
  4. Come to SLVUSD Human Resources Department during Volunteer Registration hours (Tuesdays 8-11 am and Thursdays 12:30-3:30 pm). Bring your completed Volunteer Agreement, proof of negative current TB test or Risk Assessment to Human Resources. The Human Resources Department Office is located at 325 Marion Avenue in Ben Lomond.
  5. Receive from Human Resources a request for a Live Scan Fingerprint form authorizing SLVUSD to receive the results and pay for your Live Scan Fingerprint processing.
  6. Bring the Live Scan Fingerprint form and current state issued photo ID to the Santa Cruz County Office of Education near Costco at 400 Encinal St., Santa Cruz, CA. Their phone number is 831-466-5600.
Please find the following documents (below) to assist you with this process:
 PLEASE NOTE:
  • You may not drive on any field trips (including just your own child) without fingerprint clearance.
  • The fingerprinting process (LiveScan) only needs to be completed once for each volunteer. There is no need to go through this process again once you are cleared.
  • The TB Assessment MUST be completed once every four (4) years.
